Citru sustainable is the section of citrus eco luxury concept dedicated to offering a curated selection of the best conscious brands and items, to benefit social and environmental causes. Citrusustainable has built a community which is attentive to the topic of sustainability, promoting conscious fashion based on two fundamental criteria: “planet” & “people”.Expanding on these two main themes, we decided to pursue eight sustainable tags. organic, vegan, low impact, and recycling & upcycling focus on our “planet” by respecting the environment and our ecosystem.We are committed to sustainability and aim to continuously improve ourselves as a company. our goal is to guide our customers to make responsible choices in an easy and informed way.
80% of plastic waste comes from rivers
The impact of human beings on the planet has been devastating. Regardless of the consequences, waste of all kinds has continued to be dumped into our seas. Plastic waste is collecting in the oceans in “plastic islands”. The biggest of these is the great pacific garbage patch. Its dimensions are like those of spain and portugal put together. Since plastic debris reaches the oceans via rivers, it takes 20 years to reach these “islands”.
The composition: "What about plastic?
The main component of our material is a 100% plant-based polymer. The next question people ask us is: "what is the percentage of plastic in your composition?". The numbers are in black and white on the tech sheet. But we believe this is not the point if we are to talk about real sustainability.
The point is which plastic we use. Plastics are harmful in two cases: when dumped and when oil is extracted to make them because it is when carbon emissions are produced.
We, in turn, use plastic from organic and recycled components to prevent it from being di- spersed into the environment or incinerated. Also, we avoid the extraction of virgin fossils and, in doing so, we reduce our carbon footprint.
